Higher Education System in Poland
The Polish degree system is based on the three-cycle structure in accordance to the European standard in higher education that makes is easier for students to obtain recognition of their qualifications in other countries.
First-cycle of studies (3-4 years) is the Polish equivalent of a Bachelor's degree.
Second-cycle of studies ((1.5-2 years) is the Polish equivalent of a Master's degree.
11 fields of study in Poland (e.g. dentistry, medicine, pharmacy, veterinary medicine) offer long-cycle programmes (4.5 -6 years) only and apart from general studies contain also in-depth specialisations.
Third-cycle of studies (3-4 years) is the Polish equivalent of a PhD degree, offered to candidates who successfully defend a doctoral dissertation.
All higher education institutions are required to end their courses with examinations.
In order to graduate, students are required to pass a performance assessment for all subjects, pass all examinations according to the study programme and pass the diploma examination.
