16.11.2015 Poles take high place in the robotic competition robotour
The robot TAPAS, which can autonomously choose a path and avoid obstacles to deliver the load to the target point, finished in fourth place in the international competition Robotour in the Czech Republic. The creators of the robot are students from Poznań University of Technology.
Robotour is a competition of autonomous mobile robots, which, without being controlled by humans in any way, are able to navigate the paths in a park, avoid obstacles and deliver a small load to a target point.
The Polish team was composed of members of the CybAiR Science Club at Poznań University of Technology.
The event has only one competition: operators receive information about the longitude and latitude of the target point and have 10 minutes to prepare vehicles for reaching this point autonomously. Next, without further interference from the outside, robots make decisions and navigate toward the target, avoiding obstacles, driving on the grass and other moving objects.
Robotour is organized by a group of enthusiasts from the Czech Republic. The main organizer is Martin Dlouhý, who coordinates the competition. The competition is open to anyone who constructs a robot that meets the requirements of the competition rules.
